'We want to take advantage of the momentum': Harrison Delbridge Interview

Incheon United's Harrison Delbridge highlights the need to take advantage of the team's current momentum after back-to-back wins and a run of five unbeaten. The Blue Black head to Seogwipo this Saturday in Hana 1Q K League 1 Round 22 for what will be manager Jo Sung-hwan's first visit to the island to take on his former employers Jeju United.

A 1-0 Gyeongin Derby win away to FC Seoul on July 14th was followed up by a 2-1 comeback win over Suwon Bluewings 10 days later, the first time Incheon had picked up two consecutive wins all season. The Durumi now sit in seventh place, just two points behind Suwon FC and Pohang Steelers in fifth and sixth respectively.

This weekend, Incheon take on Jeju United in a match which will see manager Jo Sung-hwan return to Seogwipo World Cup Stadium as a manager for the first time since departing the club in 2019. Coach Jo was relieved of his duties and may feel as though has a point to prove to his former employers. But, Harrison Delbridge says it has been business as usual in terms of the build up to the weekends match:

"I wouldn't say it's been different too much as far as our preparations have gone. It's a little bit of a different schedule because I think we go there a few days earlier than we usually would because it's a big trip. So that's shifted around, we have harder days in the beginning of the week and then it tapers off and starts to get a little bit more tactical. Obviously, I think the boys are aware that there's a history there with the coach having been there before, and even our last game against them we didn't play well and it was at home. So, we definitely have more reasons than usual to get the three points.

"I also think we want to take advantage of the momentum that we're on right now. It's not easy to build that sort of momentum in the K League, every team seems like a tough match. I think this is the first time we've won two games in a row this season. The coach made that clear that it was important to build on the last game. So it's an opportunity to build and continue that momentum."

Incheon United take on Jeju United at 20:00 KST on Saturday 31st July.
