Incheon host Anyang in an interesting cup tie on Wednesday

remove_image

Incheon United take on FC Anyang in the third round of the 2021 Korean FA Cup on Wednesday evening. This will be first ever time this sides have ever played in a competitive game, and K League 2 Anyang will be looking to produce a but of cup magic.

Recent Form

The host on for this FA Cup clash will be Incheon United who have lost three of their last five games including a depressing five-nil defeat to league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai on Sunday. Prior to that they held Suwon Bluewings at home. They're currently tenth in K League 1 and only a single point above bottom club Suwon FC.

Moving over to the visitors FC Anyang, who like Incheon have struggled a little this season. They won for just the second time in the league this past weekend beating Busan by two goals to one. They also won recently in the previous round of the cup, when they easily beat K3 leaders Cheonan City five-one.

What to Watch

Incheon United have had a problem in scoring goals for the most part this season. The obvious factor behind this has been the absence of star striker Stefan Mugosa. There is a hope that Mugosa might in some part maybe involved on Wednesday, however his return may only be a match fitness building cameo.

Taking a quick look at the Incheon defensive line which shipped five at the weekend and looking overpowered against Jeonbuk. It seems likely that things will be switched around for this cup match and that at least keeper Jeong San will be given a chance to shine.

Now looking at the visitors second tier side FC Anyang, just like Incheon they've had issues scoring goals so far this season. Having only scored five in the league from their open six games, however they did put five past Cheonan in the cup. Forward Mo Jae-Hyeon is currently their top scorer with two at the moment, including the winner against Busan this past weekend.

Defensively FC Anyang have been strong, keeper Jeong Min-ki as well as Brazilian defender Nilson have been the standouts during the opening couple of months of the season. Couple this strength with Incheons weaknesses upfront you could see Anyang having a slight edge in this area of the field.

Who to Watch

Brazilian Winger Negueba has settled into life in Incheon following his Winter move from K League 2 side Gyeongnam FC. He has one goal and two assists from eight appearances this season and was one of the rest players on Sunday to look competitive. The main question is however will he play on Wednesday? He played a full ninety last Wednesday and a most of the game this past Sunday, so there is a possibility that he'll be rested. But if he is involved he'll be a dangerous problem for the Anyang defence.
