To celebrate 20 years since the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, and the Taeguk Warriors' incredible run to the semifinals, K League United will be reliving it all. In episode two, Paul and Matt go over the main talking points of South Korea's 2-0 win over Poland, before inviting some special guests.
Two decades ago the World Cup came to Korea in what proved to be one of the most pivotal moments in the history of Korean football. 20 years ago today, June 4th 2002, South Korea kicked off their World Cup campaign against Poland, going on to seal an impressive 2-0 win following a pulsating performance with goals from Hwang Sun-hong and Yoo Sang-chul.
To celebrate the Taeguk Warriors' incredible run to the semifinals, K League United are going back to the tournament to learn more, reviewing each match and welcoming a number of special guests to discuss the legacy in an eight-part series.
In Episode two, Paul and Matt review the 2-0 win over Poland before speaking to KLU's very own Jung Muyeol about what it was like to watch in-country back then, before inviting Daniel from Polish football podcast Golksa to learn more about what fans of Orły thought about the result and World Cup as a whole.
