News: Daejeon break K League 2 transfer record for André Luís
Daejeon Hana Citizen have broken the K League 2 transfer record with the $2.2million permanent signing of Brazilian winger André Luís from Corinthians.
Brazilian Série A side Corinthians have confirmed the transfer of 23-year-old forward André Luís to Daejeon via the club's official website, making his loan move a permanent deal.
André's contract with Corinthians was set to expire at the end of 2022 but after hitting the ground running in K League, and with the seven-time Campeonato Brasileiro Série A champions in financial difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daejeon were keen to secure a permanent transfer.
The deal also includes a 10% sell-on clause.
André has made an instant impact in a Daejeon shirt, scoring on his debut - an equaliser 10 minutes before half time during the Purples' 2-1 away win over Suwon FC on the opening weekend.
Since then, and up until round six of the 2020 Hana 1Q K League 2 campaign, André has scored six league goals including a brace in the 2-2 draw with Chungnam Asan in round three and a last minute equaliser away to fellow promotion hopefuls Gyeongnam FC in round five.
Daejeon's number 10 then made it seven goals in six matches in all competitions last weekend with the Purples' second in a 3-0 FA Cup win over K3 side Chuncheon FC.
André Luís played five games during the 2019 Paulista Championship season then featured 24 times for Fortaleza on loan before joining Daejeon..
The Purples had already broken their transfer record once this season when securing the services of Korean international goalkeeper Kim Dong-jun from Seongnam FC for a fee believed to be around $1million.
Securing the services of André is Daejeon's second piece of summer window business having also secured the signing of Korean left-back Seo Young-jae from 2. Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel. However, a formal announcement from the club is yet to be made.
The previous K League 2 transfer record was set by Gyeongnam FC's acquisition of Marcão in 2017 for $930,000, according to Transfermarkt.
