News: Korean National Team Squad Announcement
Ahead of the forthcoming AFC Asian Cup in the UAE, Korean National Team Manager Paulo Bento has selected a squad of 23 Asia-based players to take part in a training camp in Ulsan later this month. The K League 2 contingent of Kim Moonhwan, Hwang Inbeom, Ju Sejong, and Na Sangho all keep there places. Elsewhere, there's a surprise call-up for FC Seoul's Cho Youngwook and Suwon Bluewings' Kim Joonhyung.
Amongst the 23, there are first call ups for Ulsan Hyundai's Han Seunggyu and Jeonbuk's Jang Yunho. There is also a place in the squad for Jeonbuk Hyundai's Kim Jinsu with the former Hoffenheim full back now back to full fitness following a long term injury layoff.
Since taking charge in August, Korea have played six games under Paulo Bento, winning three and drawing three. The Taeguk Warriors' next match will be against Saudi Arabia in UAE on 1st January 2019 1:00am before the group stages begin six days later. Bento's Korea have been drawn into Group C and will face the Philippines on Monday 7th January at 22:30 KST, Kyrgyzstan on 12th January at 1:00 am KST, and China on Wednesday 16th January at 22:30 KST.
Before then, though, Bento and his players will convene in Ulsan on Tuesday 11th December, train at Ulsan Civic Stadium until Thursday 20th when Bento will reveal his final squad for the tournament. The team will depart for the UAE on Sunday 23rd December.
