Daegu 1-0 Gyeongnam recap

First of all apologizes for the lateness of my recap of the game.  Secondly, I was too busy to even watch the game and have been so busy over the long weekend to even write about the game on the small 5 minute highlight package I saw a few days ago.

Daegu won the game 1-0 with a Johnathan winner with 3 minutes to go of the game.  A bitter blow for Gyeongnam who were looking good to secure a precious point away from home against the league leaders.  In fairness it was lovely timed run and finish from the Brazilian striker whose low shot squeezed under the reds keeper and looped up off his backside and into roof of the net.

Son Jeong Hyeon in the away sides goal, if it had stayed 0-0 would have been a hero.  He had saved two spot kicks from the home side.  Firstly he saved Johnathan rather tame effort after 67 minutes, pushing his shot around the post diving down low to his right.  It was just rewards as the penalty awarded was very harsh as Johnathan himself went down after the slightest of touches by the reds defender.

Then amazingly three minutes later the ball rolls up Choi Sung Mins #2 body and slide off his outstretched hand in the box the referee rightly placed points to the spot again.  You have seen them given and on another day waved away by the man in black.  This time Byung Jung No stepped up and his what can only be described as a miss kick spot kick was straight at the keeper, who simply stopped it with his legs standing in the middle of the goal.

But Son Jeong Hyeon heroics where to be to no avail as the scoreline suggests.  A cruel way to lose a game of football.  But after looking at the stats and seeing Gyeongnam had 15 shots on goal with 0 being on target and the reds scoring only 3 goals this season, it seems shooting practice may be on the agenda this week.

This Sunday Gyeongnam entertain Seoul Eland who are buzzing after demolishing Suwon 5-1 last week away from home.  Dare I go and watch this game.  It's being played on the lovely island of Geoje, with a 2pm kick off.
