2026 K League 1 Round 14 Preview

Round 14 of the 2026 Hana Bank K League 1 season features a closely contested meeting between Incheon United and Pohang Steelers as both sides look to strengthen their position in the top half. Elsewhere, Bucheon FC 1995 aim to halt a losing streak and rediscover their early-season form, while FC Anyang winger Airton Moisés looks to continue his strong run after another influential performance in Round 13.

Match of the Round

Incheon vs. Pohang in the battle for top-half momentum

Round 14 sees Incheon United (fifth, 18 points) take on Pohang Steelers (fourth, 19 points). With both sides enjoying strong recent form and separated by just one point, the match could prove decisive in the race for top-half security heading into the World Cup break.

Incheon have recorded three wins, one draw and one loss across their last five matches, maintaining a steady run of form. In Round 13, they produced an impressive 3-0 victory over Gimcheon Sangmu, showing quality at both ends of the pitch. It marked Incheon’s first win by a three-goal margin this season. Morgan Ferrior and Lee Dong-ryul both found the net, while Juan Ibiza scored his first K League goal with a header. Incheon have also recorded consecutive clean sheets following their Round 12 draw with Daejeon Hana Citizen, highlighting their growing balance in attack and defence. Attention now turns to whether they can continue that momentum at home.

Pohang Steelers, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their last three matches with two wins and one draw. In Round 13, they defeated Daejeon thanks to a brace from Juninho Rocha, with the Brazilian finally opening his account for the season. Pohang have shown strength through their physical presence in attack, using tall forwards such as Lee Ho-jae, Cho Sang-hyuk and Jorge Teixeira effectively. They currently rank second in attacking aerial duel success rate at 53.2%. Their ability to trouble Incheon’s defence through aerial play could prove decisive.

The two sides drew 1-1 in their Round 3 meeting earlier this season, while Pohang are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Incheon with four wins and three draws. Their second meeting of the campaign takes place on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:30 PM at Incheon Football Stadium.

Team of the Round

Bucheon target response after back-to-back defeats

Bucheon FC 1995 (11th, 13 points) suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ulsan HD in Round 13, falling to consecutive losses. Earlier this season, Bucheon responded immediately after their first losing streak with a victory, and they will now look to repeat that turnaround.

Despite this being their first season in K League 1, Bucheon made a stable start with one win, three draws and one loss in their opening five matches. However, they have since recorded two wins, one draw and five losses across their last eight games. The drop in attacking output has been noticeable, though. After scoring five goals in their opening five matches, Bucheon have managed only four goals in their subsequent eight. Improving their finishing will be essential, particularly from Jefferson Galego, who has not scored since Round 7 despite remaining on four goals for the season.

Defensively, reducing mistakes will also be important. Patrick William, Baek Dong-gyu, Hong Seong-wook and Jeong Ho-jin have rotated through the back three this season, but Bucheon have managed only four clean sheets in 13 matches. Against Ulsan, they conceded the decisive goal after losing possession during build-up play from the back, highlighting the need for greater concentration in key moments.

Bucheon face Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Round 14. They will take confidence from their opening-day 3-2 win over the reigning champions earlier this season. The two sides meet again on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30 PM at Bucheon Sports Complex.

Player of the Round

Anyang’s unstoppable force Airton Moisés

FC Anyang (ninth, 16 points) drew 1-1 with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in Round 13. Although Lee Seung-woo scored the equaliser in the 76th minute to deny Anyang all three points, Airton Moisés once again made a decisive contribution by opening the scoring.

Anyang entered the match with limited resources following the suspension of Matheus Oliveira, while Thomas Oude Kotte, Park Jeong-hoon and Kim Bo-kyung were also unavailable through injury. Despite those absences, Anyang competed evenly with Jeonbuk throughout the match, with Airton providing a major attacking threat from the wing.

Airton has now scored four goals in 12 appearances this season, making him the club’s leading scorer. Since netting his first K League goal against FC Seoul in Round 6, he has consistently delivered in attack and become a central figure in Anyang’s forward play. His greatest strength lies in his explosive pace and ability to overpower defenders in one-on-one situations. After another strong display despite the team’s injury concerns, Airton now looks to score in consecutive matches.

Anyang face Gimcheon Sangmu in Round 14. The first meeting between the two sides this season ended in a 1-1 draw. Their second encounter of the campaign takes place on Wednesday, May 13th at 7:30 PM at Anyang Sports Complex.
