East Coast Derby Final on the Cards after First Leg Results

Pohang Steelers rallied from two down to snatch a late, late draw in Jeju, while Ulsan battled their way past Gwangju in the Korean Cup first-leg semi-finals.

The dream Korean Cup Final of defending champions Pohang Steelers vs. East Coast rivals and back-to-back League champions Ulsan HD is on after the first legs of the semi-finals on Wednesday night. The final will take place at the Seoul World Cup Stadium at 2pm on November 30th.

Gwangju FC 0-1 Ulsan HD

Ulsan withstood some late pressure to defeat Gwangju 1-0, courtesy of Yago Cariello's 55th-minute winner. It was the Brazilian striker's first goal for his new club after the bitter move from Gangwon FC last month.

Jeju United 2-2 Pohang Steelers

In Seogwipo, Jeju United blew an early 2-0 lead against defending champions Pohang Steelers. Kim Ju-gong put the Tangerines ahead in just the fourth minute, and the lead was doubled seven minutes later by Yuri Jonathan. Jeju tore Pohang to shreds in the opening half, and the image of the first 46 minutes for the visitors was Wanderson constantly shaking his head in disgust.

But just before the break, Jeon Min-gwang pulled one back against the run of play. Pohang enjoyed the better of the second period, despite Yuri having a goal ruled out, before Jeong Jae-hee's 100th-minute equalizer. They sure love a late goal in Korean football.

Before we get excited about the Donghae-an Derby in Seoul, Pohang and Ulsan need to negotiate the second leg, next Wednesday.
