"You never know in football, let's see what happens" - Son Heung-min on playing in K League

Son Heung-min admits that time the difference makes it difficult for him to watch many K League matches live while he's in London, but he keeps up to date with what's happening.

Keeping his cards close to his chest, Son didn't give much away when asked whether he'd end his playing career in K League, and do what the likes of Lee Chung-yong, Ki Sung-yeung, Koo Ja-cheol, and Ji Dong-won are currently doing, and what the likes of Lee Chun-soo did over a decade ago.

For the second time in his career, Son will take on a team of K League all-stars. Some players he'll know personally having played with them with the national team, others not so much. So, does Mr. Korean football watch domestic Korean football?

"First of all, I think because of time differences, it's really hard to watch the live games, but I'm still very interested in the K League because all of my friends are playing in the K League. And I really enjoy to watch. If you have a chance to watch live games or even highlights, I'll try to watch as many games as possible.

"It's fun to watch because we all love football, you know, so especially back home. It means something, but, if I'll play in the K League, I don't know, (in) football, you never know.  I can't give you an answer right now, but I just want to focus on where I am now, so, as I said last year, before we started the season, I got a lot of things to do in the Premier League, so I want to improve as much as I can, and I want to be a better player as much as I can. So, yeah, football, you never know. I can't give you the answer, but you never know. Let's see what happens."

Son Heung-min was briefly in FC Seoul's academy in 2008 before moving to Hamburg in Germany as a 16-year-old. This season will take the South Korea national team captain to a decade with Tottenham Hotspur, where he has made over 400 appearances, scoring 162 goals, and is currently the captain of the north London club.
