Seoul Derby Build-up: Osmar - "We are creating a new story" - K League United | South Korean football news, opinions, match previews and score predictions

Osmar admits that FC Seoul underestimated Seoul E-Land in the first Seoul Derby in 2021, but says that he and Seoul E-Land are "creating a new story."

Having spent most his career with FC Seoul, Osmar says that this Wednesday's match will be strange.

"We will feel very strange. For now, it's a very special game I keep thinking about it but I don't know how we'll feel the same day the game before the moments before when I see my former teammates in the locker when I come to say hi for sure everything what I feel now it will multiply by 10 or 100 times so it will be a very special game for me for sure.

"Well for starters we have to know that it's going to be an emotional game. A lot of feelings. We are from the same city so we are kind of creating a new story here and we have to believe in our team's strength as a group as a team. I think if we realize that we are much more stronger that way than going individually we can win this game."

But for Seoul E-Land, it's all about putting their best foot forward.

"Sometimes if the players are confused because we are playing against a big team and they want to show themselves and forget a little bit [about] the team it's going to be bad for us. So, again, our strength is in the group all together defending together, attacking together and I can see we're getting better and better every day. So hopefully this game we can show a good performance."

The first Seoul Derby in 2021 finished 1-0 to Seoul E-Land, a shock defeat for FC Seoul even despite the team being on a poor run of form. Osmar admits that FC Seoul may have underestimated their city neighbours.

"To be honest I think me, and probably the whole team, thought it was going to be kind of an easy game, turned out it wasn't and we want to do the same. Now hopefully they come with pretty much the same mind and we want to show that we are a tough team and this is our home stadium and we want to win the game."

But what sort of message does Osmar have for the fans?

"Well for the fans I have to say once more thank you because I still receive messages that they miss me they love me they like me there are no bad feelings about changing teams at all so for that part I have to thank them all. And my teammates, I'm looking forward to seeing them because I'm in touch with them sometimes but I don't see them I cannot meet them we don't find the time to meet and it's where I want to meet them here on the pitch. "I trained with them and against them but I never played against them like an official match so yeah I see I want to see myself in that position it's going to be new and it's going to be a challenge for myself.

"I will see you on the pitch soon very soon I'm looking forward to that. I don't know what else I can say. Make sure you are ready. We will be ready so hopefully we can show our fans a good match good memories, as I said before a new story. So see you in the stadium."
