Lingard says he has settled in "really quickly" at FC Seoul
Jesse Lingard was announced as an FC Seoul player on February 8th. In the space of around a month, the former Manchester United and England star has gone through most of pre-season, and now a couple of league games.
Speaking to the media following his home debut against Incheon United in Round 2 of the 2024 Hana Bank K League 1 season, Lingard says that he feels settled into his new surroundings.
"I've settled in really quickly, to be honest, quicker than I thought. I'm always up for a new adventure and trying to learn different things, try different foods, and learn the culture. So that's what I've been doing since settling. The club have helped me sort an apartment out, which I've done, which I'll move in to in mid-March. I've been at the hotel since I've been here.
"The lads and the staff and the manager have made me feel so welcome and, like I say, the support from the fans since I've arrived has been amazing. So, I'd like to say thank you on that part."
There's a sense of intrigue about every aspect of Lingard's unlikely and surprise move to South Korea. The media were keen to find out what he thinks about the level of football in K League and, despite having played just over 90 minutes across two matches, was asked about his early impressions.
"It's competitive. It's physical, which is good. It's quick, which is also good. Two games in, I can see how physical and quick the game is which always suits my style of football. It's just about adapting to certain games.
"Teams are going to be a lot different in the K League. So, it's just about adapting to that and getting our tactics right to go on and win the game. So, like I say, I've settled in fairly quickly, getting used to the team, getting used to the surroundings. But I feel like I've settled in quick."
