Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors midfielder Paik Seung-ho with eight and the Ulsan Hyundai trio of Jo Hyeon-woo, Kim Young-gwon, and Kim Tae-hwanwith 21, 19, and 23 respectively have the same numbers they use at club level. For Kim Young-gwon it's the same number he was given at the 2018 World Cup. As too Kim Seung-gyu (1), Son Heung-min (7), Hwang Hee-chan (11), and Hong Chul (14).

Kwon Chang-hoon has 22, the number he used during his first two spells with Suwon Samsung Bluewings. Jung Woo-young wore 15 in Russia but sticks with the number five shirt which he has worn throughout most of the qualifying campaign.

Lee Jae-sung, who wears seven for Mainz and had the number 17 four years ago, will wear the number 10 shirt. His former Jeonbuk colleague Kim Min-jae, meanwhile, who normally wears number three at club level, gets his usual number four shirt for Korea.

The number three has been given to Kim Jin-su, suggesting that the Jeonbuk man will be Paulo Bento's first choice as one of his "lateral" backs.

Cho Yu-min becomes the first player to wear number 24 at a World Cup for South Korea, likewise Jeong Woo-young for 25 and Song Min-kyu with 26 with the squads expanded from 23 to 26 for this year's tournament.

Hwang In-beom, heading into his first World Cup, wears the number six which he has worn at Daejeon Citizen and Rubin Kazan as well as for the national team since he broke through to the full setup in 2018.
