FC Anyang vs Bucheon FC 1995

In round 15 in K League 2 two teams that won last weekend meet on Saturday to continue their climbs up the table. Hosts FC Anyang were victorious last time out to climb from tenth to eighth place. Meanwhile, fifth place Bucheon FC 1995 are only one point outside of their playoffs due to their win over the league leaders on Sunday.

Last Time Out

Bucheon FC 1995 2-0 Suwon FC

Bucheon bounced back from their heaviest defeat of the season with their fifth win against Suwon FC in six matches. Suwon looked out of sorts compared to the dominant displays they produced earlier this season and Bucheon took full advantage. Suwon forward Masatoshi Ishida sent the ball over an open goal from close range in the 33rd minute, and just two minutes later Lee Hyun-il gave Bucheon the lead when a major deflection sent his shot passed the keeper.

Bucheon then doubled their lead in stunning fashion in the 56th minute, when Cho Soo-chul collected the ball on the left wing in acres of space, and launched a goal of the season contender from 30 yards inside the far post of the goal. Suwon almost got themselves back in the game as a goal was disallowed in the 77th minute for allegedly not crossing the line. Masatoshi Ishida hit the crossbar for Suwon in the 90th minute, but Bucheon held on for the clean sheet and three points. Suwon remain top, while Bucheon are back in play-off contention.

Ansan Greeners 0-1 FC Anyang

Anyang started the weekend bottom of the table but now they are only six points behind sixth and seventh place thanks to victory over their Line 4 Derby rivals. The only goal came in the 17th minute as an unmarked Kim Gyeong-min scored from close range from a Kwon Young-hyun corner.

The rest of the match was defined by its fiery nature. Ansan's Felipe August received a red card just before half-time and there were a total of seven yellow cards handed out during the match, five to Anyang. Ansan fall to ninth and remain the lowest scorers in the league with eight goals in 14 matches.

Previous Meetings

Bucheon won this year's first encounter between the two clubs thanks to a 2-1 away from home in May. Both Bucheon goals were headers scored by defender Kim Young-chan, which sandwiched a late equaliser by Anyang's Maurides that was cancelled out by Kim's injury time winner.

This put Bucheon in front in the fixture overall with 11 wins, while Anyang have 10 wins and there have been 10 draws. Bucheon will have another slight psychological advantage as both teams have won six of their matches away from home, and it is Bucheon's turn to travel to Anyang. Bucheon are also the higher scorer's in the fixture, with 42 goals compared to Anyang's 37.

Team News

Jefferson Baiano remains injured for Bucheon with a hamstring injury, and is likely to be out for one or two more weeks. Other than that, Bucheon should have a full strength squad to take with them to their Gyeonggi-do rivals.

Bucheon played with a 4-4-2 formation against Suwon that regularly troubled the Suwon defence, particular with forward William Barbio's runs in the box and down the wing. The only major change from the previous week was Kam Han-sol starting in place of Kwon Seung-ri, with Kam moving to right-back and Kim Kang-san starting as a centre back.

The Adversary

Anyang have no suspensions and will likely look to field a similar team to the one that earned the victory at Ansan Greeners. Not only was it just their third win of the season, it was also only their fourth clean sheet so far of the campaign.

Despite their differing league positions Anyang have actually scored three more goals than Bucheon this season with 16, but their 19 goals conceded is the joint third worst in the league, level with Gyeongnam and behind only Daejeon Hana Citizen and Chungnam Asan. Anyang will be hoping that Bucheon's attack, the third worst in the league, will not trouble them but seeing Bucheon put two past top of the table Suwon will worry the boys in purple.

What To Watch

Both teams top scorers - Bucheon's Lee Hyun-il and Anyang's Boadu Maxwell Acosty - are sitting on four goals each this season, so can one of them pull in front this Saturday? 28 year-old Acosty is three goals behind his highest ever season tally, while 25 year-old Lee is already level with his most prolific season.

Slightly worrying for Anyang is the fact that Acosty has not yet scored at home yet, while Lee as earned three of his goals on his travels. This preference may play into Bucheon's favour on Saturday. Anyang can at least take solace in the fact that Lee has scored three of his goals against only one opponent - Suwon FC - so he seems to play best against a certain type of opposition. Acosty has also achieved his figure in slightly fewer games - 10 compared to Lee's 11.

Prediction

Bucheon might trip up as they seem to perform better against higher level teams, but they seem to have perfected their tactics as of late and should be in good form against Anyang. Anyang's attack might cause a few problems, but their defence is far more likely to have an impact on the match.
