Preview: Incheon United vs Sangju Sangmu

This Wednesday evening sees sixth-placed Incheon United play host to military side Sangju Sangmu who are currently residing in ninth in the K League 1. Incheon are currently on a four match unbeaten run and will be hoping to extend this solid form with  a strong showing in a match they are set to be favourites for.

Last Time Out

November 18th 2017
Incheon United 2 - 0 Sangju Sangmu

Incheon sealed safety with a solid 2 goal win over Sangju towards the end of last season. A couple of second half goals was enough to defeat Sangju, who finished the game with only ten men and a place in the end of season relegation-playoffs. Incheon on the day were the better side. However, moving into 2018 both teams look much different and overall seem to be improved versus this late season relegation six-pointer.

Previous Meetings

Over the years Incheon and Sangju Sangmu have played each other 33 times with their record reading as follows:

Incheon 16
Draws 9
Sangju Sangmu 8

Last season Incheon United have won three of the four encounters between the two sides, with the other game ending in a goalless draw. Sangju last won away against Incheon back in 2014, with Ha Tae-Goon scoring a 90th minute winner.

Who To Watch

Incheon United's Montenegrin striker Stefan Mugoša returned at the weekend, scoring a brace and taking his personal tally to four goals in three games. He iss certainly the main target man for Incheon United at the moment, and I am sure Sangju will want to have him covered.

In defence Bunoza has had a strong start to the new season following a mixed first year at the club. Sadly the rest of the defence is not as reliable at present. Also, neutral's should keep an eye out for attacking midfielders Moon Seon-Min, Song Si-Woo and Appiah-Kubi. All three have recently been a danger on the attack.

In my opinion Sangju Sangmu have a handful of quality players. However, striker Joo Min-Kyu is maybe the standout. He has started this season strongly, scoring a few goals and could be on his way to Russia for the World Cup if his current form continues.

Prediction

Incheon are a tough side to beat at the moment, and maybe should have won at the weekend. Sangju Sangmu on the other hand have struggled to hold on in tight games and have not won since the second week of the season. I see Incheon winning this one, but it will not be a classic game based on both sides' early season performances.

Predicted Score: Incheon United 2 - 1 Sangju Sangmu
