Koreans Abroad Weekend Recap

By @KoreaFootAbroad

So the season ends on a fairly bleh note.  I'll have recap later but a pretty frustrating and disappointing season.

Hong Jeong Ho -- He was pretty solid and had some good blocks.  While Augsburg did have defensive problems, HJH was not the weak link this weekend.

Ji Dong Won -- Came on very late but didn't do much.

Koo Ja Cheol -- Out with a broken toe, you could see the difference Koo makes as Augsburg lost all the battles in the middle of the pitch.  With rumors of Weinzierl going to Schalke, you will have to wonder if Koo will go along and what will happen to Augsburg without him.

Park Joo Ho -- Still out with that injury.

Kim Jin Su -- With Ochs down with U19s, KJS did get a spot on the bench, but even that was tinged with disappointment as Toljan was on the bench but KJS still didn't get to play.

Lee Chung Yong -- Have to admit that I was fully surprised to see LCY in the squad, even if it were as sacrificial lambs ahead of FA Cup final.  And I was doubly shocked to see him come on.  He started off poorly losing the ball under pressure.  And his role in the fourth goal reflects some of the problems, where LCY was somehow deep in defense and didn't track the goal scorer.  But outside that, he had some good moments, including showing good pace, great passes and some decent dribbles too.  Sadly, I don't think thats enough for him to earn a role in next weekends cup final, even if he does somehow make the bench.

Ki Sung Yueng -- The club finally announced that they were giving him an early vacation so that he would get some vacation before KNT friendlies and military duty.  A better explanation than trying to get ready for KNT friendlies.

Son Heung Min -- He started but in a lackluster Spurs display, Son was even more invisible.  Tottenham looked totally flat and Son looked among the weakest and was taken off at HT.  A really sorry end to the season for Tottenham and Son.

Suk Hyun Jun -- Again left off the squad.  Looks like some more positive posts from his Instragram but he has some tough decisions this summer with so little of a role.
