TNT FC September Feature: TNT FC clinch K5 Seoul title early and advance to Championship

September 2026 saw Yangcheon TNT FC, the defending champions, secure an early K5 Seoul title and book their place in the Championship.

Yangcheon TNT FC clinched the 2026 K5 League Seoul Division title thanks to a 4-0 win over Nissi FC on September 20th. It was the club's sixth win in as many matches, and meant that they would finish top regardless of the result in their final game.

Having secured the title with a game to spare, Yangcheon TNT will now advance to the K5 Championship, where they will look to defend the title they won last year.

Following the win, Head Coach Hwangbo Su said:

“It’s still too early to celebrate because we have one game left, but we’ll work hard so that we can receive even more congratulations."

Hwangbo also praised goalkeeper Park Jun-hyeok, saying:

“Park Jun-hyeok is a goalkeeper I can trust completely. Age is just a number. If we win one more game, we can go to the Championship with a perfect record. We expect it to be more difficult than last year, so we need to prepare well. I think we need to prepare properly as a team if we're going to challenge for the title this year. I have high expectations.”

Hat-trick hero in the 4-0 win over Nissi FC Kim Seo-jun said:

“First of all, I’m extremely happy that the team has secured the championship, and I’m even happier because I came on and scored. My teammates took a lot out of the opposition in the first half, which allowed me to come on in the second half and score.

“The coach told me to be confident and take players on one-on-one, so I tried to be as aggressive as possible, and I think that worked well. Now we’re heading to the Championship, and because the team’s goal is to win the title, I’ll prepare with the same goal of becoming champions.”

Club captain Lee Jung-geun, meanwhile, spoke about momentum after the Seoul Division title-winning victory.

“We won a really important game and secured the title early. This victory has lifted the atmosphere around the team, and I think it will give us a lot of momentum as we prepare for the Championship.”

“I feel that the Division League is getting stronger every year. We all worked hard to win the title last year, and I remember saying at the time that we should aim for three consecutive championships. That gives us a lot of motivation.

“I believe the president, the manager, the coaching staff and all of the players have prepared really well this year. I’m confident that we won’t be beaten by any team we face. We have experienced players as well as a lot of young, talented players. We’re getting stronger as a team, and the coaching staff are giving us a lot of support. I hope there are many more days like today, when it feels like a festival.

“Personally, I believe in this team, and all of our players take pride in being part of Yangcheon TNT FC. The goal is to win the championship.”

Goalkeeper Park Jun-hyeok plays a big part on and off the pitch, and was ready when called upon.

“As the oldest player in the team, I wanted to give the younger players some encouragement. I’m happy that I was able to stop several chances.

“I also finished my playing career at Yangcheon TNT, and I’m grateful because so many people here have treated me so well. I’m enjoying playing football.

“We’ve reached the Championship again this year. I’ll work hard to finish our remaining game well and do everything I can in goal so that we can win the title again, just like last year.”

The essence of TNT FC can be felt. Veteran leadership, ambition, and drive. Park Jun-hyeok is the oldest player in the squad and has played at the very top level but still has the motivation, while Lee Jung-geun is captain and leads by example.

Lee Jung-geun talking about “three consecutive championships” also shows that this squad is hungry for me. It shows that the ambition wasn't simply created after winning last year's Championship - they were already talking about three in a row.

What comes next?

The K5 Championship, which TNT FC won last year, is next in the club's crosshairs. It's a champions league of sorts, with the regional champions all coming together to battle it out for the national title. As Coach Hwangbo Su has said, this year's Championship will be harder.
