#KLUpod | K League 1 Round 5 Recap [From Outside The Box]

2026 K League 1 Round 5 Match Review and Recap

This week's episode takes a look back at the weekend's action in K League 1 Round 5, focusing on Kim Gi-dong's rampant FC Seoul, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors' win over Daejeon Hana Citizen plus another frustrating afternoon for Pohang Steelers on the East Coast as they welcomed Bucheon FC 1995.

Matt Binns returns to helm yet another compact edition of From Outside The Box ahead of the international break, but Paul Neat and Alex Jensen have once again sent in their reports from the commentary booth.

Paul witnessed a repeat of the Super Cup between Daejeon Hana Citizen and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, with the result perhaps equally as discouraging for Purples fans.

Then, after the BTS warm-up act the night before, the Sangam Boys lit the league up like Dynamite on Sunday, scoring five goals without reply against Gwangju for whom Life Goes On. Alex sending in his thoughts on what may well be Kim Gi-dong's Mic-Drop moment as manager in this title race.

While there were three other games elsewhere on Sunday, Matt was on hand to cover Pohang Steeler's goalless draw with Bucheon FC 1995, a game in which the home side took their red card tally beyond their goal count for the campaign.
