2025 K League Awards: Pablo Sabbag wins Golden Boot, Cesinha Top Assist Maker Award
With the regular season now done and dusted, Monday 1st December saw attention turn to K League's annual awards. Before the main ceremony, the K League has officially confirmed the recipients of the Golden Boot Award and the Top Assist Maker Award.
Suwon FC’s Pablo Sabbag has won the K League 1 Golden Boot. Sabbag played in 33 matches and scored 17 goals.
Holding dual nationality with Colombia and Syria, Sabbag made his K League debut this season after joining Suwon FC. He scored his first goal in Round 7 against Pohang and soon began to draw attention as he went on a three-match scoring streak in Round 8 against Gimcheon Sangmu and Round 9 against FC Anyang.
Sabbag scored 11 goals with his left foot, four with his right, and two with his head, demonstrating a wide range of attacking options. He also showed consistent scoring form by netting nine goals at home and eight away.
Thanks to his outstanding performances, Sabbag achieved a remarkable double this season, claiming both a place in the K League 1 Best XI as a forward and the Golden Boot.
Daegu FC’s Cesinha has claimed the K League 1 Top Assist Award. Cesinha played twenty-four matches this season and recorded 12 assists.
He made a bright start in Round 1 against Gangwon with one goal and one assist, and continued his steady form with three multi-assist matches, one run of three consecutive matches with an assist, and one run of two consecutive matches with an assist.
As a result, Cesinha reached double-digit assists for the first time in six seasons—following 11 assists in the 2018 season and 10 in the 2019 season—and also set a new personal record for the most assists in a single season.
Although both Cesinha and Lee Dong-gyeong finished the season with the same number of assists, Cesinha played fewer matches than Lee Dong-gyeong (who appeared in thirty-six), and thus was awarded the Top Assist Maker title.
