'I'll be back in January ready for another wonderful year at Daegu' - Cesinha
Daegu FC star Cesinha says that he still feels a bit of pain after breaking a rib in September. The 33-year-old is going to return to Brazil to step up his recovery and get ready for another "wonderful year" at DGB Daegu Bank Park.
Cesinha's season was curtailed on September 1st during Daegu's 1-0 home win over Gangwon FC. The mercurial attacking midfielder was forced off at half time following a robust challenge by Marko Tuci.
He was left with broken ribs and hasn't been able to return to action since. Cesinha was at DGB Daegu Bank Park for the 1-1 draw with Gwangju FC in Round 36 to meet fans and sign autographs. K League United's Muyeol Jung caught up with him in the mixed zone afterwards, before he jetted off to Brazil.
Do you still have pain?
I still feel a little bit of pain and discomfort, I wish, with this time, I can relax and go back to Brazil to see my family, also so I can take care of my body and mind and come back stronger next year.
Your thoughts on the game today?
I think the team played well, it was a great game. I think the supporters were happy with what I had to do today day (laughing), it was signing day with a lot of supporters and I think that was awesome, the only thing we missed was the win but it was good. I think the players gave their all and we left with one point but it’s good. I think Daegu will always be strong at home and today the team was close to getting the win.
What does Daegu FC mean to you?
Daegu FC means "my home," "I’m at home," “the king is at home,” therefore I couldn’t be more happier.
When will you come back "home" to Daegu?
January. January I’ll be here if God allows it, stronger, recovered at 100% and ready to have another wonderful year.
What message do you have for the supporters?
I wish a great end of the year for every single Daegu supporter, a happy Christmas and happy new year, all the best for all of us and we will be together next year again because we need all of you, without the supporters we aren’t strong, therefore see you guys next year, happy Christmas and happy New year for everyone
What message do you have for the three Brazilians left at Daegu until the end of the season?
I wish them a great end of season, that they can do their best until the end and that they can help the club, scoring goals, being happy on the pitch and give joy to the supporters, I’ll be one of those supporters for sure! We will see again next year.
