"A win brings us closer to Ulsan" - Wanderson looks ahead to Incheon United away

Pohang Steelers utility man Wanderson believes that earning all three points against Incheon United this Saturday will be tough but says that it would be exactly what his team needs heading into the international break.
Pohang have beaten Incheon away from home once already this season, earning a 1-0 win in June thanks to a Zeca strike in the 12th minute. But, with Incheon on a run of one loss in 11 matches in all competitions, Steelers star Wanderson knows that it is going to be a tough match:

"We know that Incheon is on a good run and our last match against them was very difficult, we won but was difficult and we don’t expect anything less than that. Incheon now is very strong, Mugoša is back. They have a strong squad now especially upfront, we have to be careful. With all the respect we will go there to go after the win. We know that will be a difficult match, therefore the one who does what has to be done will earn the win."

As Wanderson says, Pohang did beat Incheon when they last made the trip to Sungui Arena Park but he also insists that this Saturday's match will be different:

"I think the last match against them we were happy and won. But now it’s a whole different match, they are different now, we know it won’t be the same, the match will be more difficult. We play every match to win but will be difficult but we will play to win."

The 2023 K League campaign is heading towards the business end of things with the split just around the corner. After Round 29 the league takes a break for the penultimate international break of the regular season. Wanderson underlines the importance of going into that break on a high. But, even with Pohang's East Coast Derby rivals Ulsan Hyundai 11 points clear, the Steelers haven't given up on the title just yet:

"It’s always good going into the international break with a win. We know that going on a long break with a loss or with a match where we didn’t perform is difficult therefore we want to win so we can work well in the break. With a win, we can also increase the gap from the team behind as well as get closer to Ulsan. A win is important so we can have a good break."
