"We just need a little bit of luck" - Suwon Bluewings' Maxwell Acosty

Suwon Samsung Bluewings forward Maxwell Acosty believes the team is doing well under new manager Kim Byung-soo but they just need a bit of luck. The Bluewings came ever so close to recording a first win in eight away to Daegu FC on Saturday in Round 20 of the 2023 Hana 1Q K League 1 season but a late Cesinha strike saw the spoils shared. Muyeol Jung caught up with Acosty in the mixed zone after the match.

A bizarre own goal by Daegu's Jo Jin-woo eight minutes into the second half saw Suwon Bluewings take the lead. The goal looked to be enough to seal a much-needed and long-awaited win but Daegu's mercurial Brazilian star Cesinha sent home a 90th-minute leveller.

The draw moved Suwon within three points of Gangwon FC in 11th place heading into Sunday's matches.

Q: How are you feeling?

A: "A little bit tired, a little bit disappointed because unfortunately, we [conceded]a goal in the last minute. Until then it was a win for us and yeah, I feel a little bit disappointed, but I think we had a good game. We have to continue. With our heads up and try to win the next game."

Q: Well, it's been an incredibly difficult situation for Suwon, and this is not what you had dreamt of when you moved to K League 1.

A: "Yeah, that's true. That's true. I was really positive and I am still positive because we have a lot of games to play and so as I said, we cannot put our heads down. We have a lot of games to play. I'm very positive about the team. We are training very well, we are playing very good football. And I think with a little bit of luck, we can have some good results. So we will continue doing our best and we hope for the best."

Q: What do you think should be done to turn things around?

A: "We have to continue working hard trying to do what the head coach and his staff tell us because as you said, the head coach is really good and his staff is really helping us a lot. And you can see from how we play, we are playing very good football. We just need a little bit of luck and a little bit of concentration, especially in the last minute. But I think we are doing a great job and I think we can get the job done

Q: Well in spite of the difficult season, Suwon fans' support has been incredible and magnificent this season. Do you have some final words for the away fans tonight?

A: "We cannot thank them enough for the support they give us. They keep on supporting us. Even the results are not very good as we all want, but they are always there to support us and to cheer us up. And we really appreciate them so much. We cannot thank them enough. We hope to win some games to just for them to see them smile, you know? So thank you so much, Suwon Bluewings fans. We appreciate their love for the team and their love for us and their support, and hopefully, we can get some good results for them."
