"It was special to score against Gwangju" - FC Seoul's Willyan Barbosa

After sealing a move to FC Seoul over the winter, Brazilian forward Willyan Barbosa is now off the mark for his new club, scoring in a 3-1 victory over his former employers Gwangju FC. Willyan says that although scoring goals is important, the most important thing was that the team won.

FC Seoul did just that, and the 3-1 victory over Gwangju FC was enough to keep the capital club in second.

Willyan opened the scoring from the edge of the box, finding the bottom corner in the 10th minute.

The Brazilian star talks about the special feeling of scoring against his former team and celebrating his first goal for his current club:

"I am very happy about my first goal for Seoul. It is undoubtedly special to score against Gwangju. I have a great affection for everyone at Gwangju because it was my first club here in Korea," he said.

"Scoring goals is important, but the most important thing was the victory, getting these three points, and continuing towards our objective," added the Brazilian attacker.

Since 2020 in South Korean football, Willyan began his career in the country with Gwangju, followed by spells with Gyeongnam FC and Daejeon Hana Citizen, before joining FC Seoul this season. Recently, the flamboyant attacker who is known for his number 94 shirt reached 100 games in the K League.

In the match against Jeonbuk Hyundai on Friday, May 5th, Willyan was honored with a plaque for his achievement in the country.

"Reaching 100 games in the K League is a very important milestone, especially in my career. I am very happy for the recognition and for achieving this mark. It means I am on the right track here in Korea," he celebrated.
