News: FC Seoul appoint Park Jin-sub as manager

FC Seoul have appointed Park Jin-sub as the club's new first team manager on a three-year contract. Park left Gwangju earlier this month after nearly three years at the helm.

FC Seoul on Tuesday announced the appointment of former Gwangju FC boss Park Jin-sub as new manager.

Speaking on the appointment of Park, a representative from FC Seoul said: "Park Jin-sub can bring a philosophy of entertaining and dynamic football to FC Seoul. The Club see's him as the ideal candidate to lead FC Seoul into a new era. In particular, Coach Park's resourcefulness and player-focused leadership were important factors behind his appointment."

In Park's first season with Gwangju, the Yellows reached the playoff semi-finals, losing 1-0 to Daejeon Citizen. However, the following year, Gwangju were crowned as K League 2 champions, finishing six points clear of Busan IPark.

In 2020 the former Korean national team full back guided Gwangju to sixth place in K League 1, the Griffins' best-ever finish to a season.

FC Seoul finished 9th in K League 1 last season and had four managers in charge, three as caretaker in Kim Ho-young, Park Hyuk-soon and Lee Won-jun following the departure of Choi Yong-soo.

Park Jin-sub will take his FC Seoul team to Goeje Island, South Gyeongsang Province for pre-season training in January ahead of the 2021 season.
