Júnior Negrão sets new K League combined goals and assists record
Ulsan Hyundai's Brazilian star Júnior Negrão has been involved in a record 82 goals and assists in his first 100 K League matches. After bagging his 19th and 20th goals of the season in the Horangi's 2-1 away win over Seongnam at the weekend, Junior is now on 73 goals and, with his nine assists, has set a new record that was previously held by fellow countrymen Johnathan (Daegu, Suwon Bluewings) and Adriano (Daejeon, FC Seoul). Júnior also has the record for how many goals scored after 18 rounds with 20 in 17 appearances, beating the likes of Lee Dong-gook and Dejan,
Suwon FC notch 100th win
By beating Seoul E-Land at the weekend, Suwon FC earned their 100th victory as a professional football club. Suwon were founded in 2003 as Suwon City and even won the National League in 2010. The club became fully professional in 2013 and joined K League the same year for what was the founding year of the K League Challenge (K League 2). Suwon picked up their first K League win in Round 4 of the 2013 season, easing past Gwangju FC by three goals to two. In 2015, Suwon won promotion via the playoffs and, under Kim Do-kyun in 2020, sit top of the K League 2 table and on course for a return to the first tier.
Han Seok-jong signs for Suwon
The transfer window may be closed but Suwon Bluewings swooped for midfielder Han Seok-jong on a free transfer. Han, who has been with Sangju Sangmu as part of his mandatory military service, was due to be a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Incheon United. However, the 28-year-old former Gangwon man has joined the Bluewings on a three and a half year contract and will wear the number six shirt.
Hwang Ui-jo starts for Bordeaux
Korean international forward Hwang Ui-jo was selected to start Girondins de Bordeaux's Ligue 1 match at home to Nantes. Hwang started on the left-hand side of a front three but a red card to Mehdi Zerkane in the 20th minute forced Bordeaux into a 4-4-1 with the former Seongnam forward on the left of the midfield four. Hwang lasted 75 minutes before being replaced by Nigerian striker Samuel Kalu. The match finished 0-0.
Hwang In-beom makes Rubin Kazan debut
Former Daejeon Hana Citizen midfielder Hwang In-beom made his Rubin Kazan debut over the weekend, coming on as as second-half sub in the 2-1 away win over CSKA Moscow. Hwang made the switch from MLS to the Russian Premier League earlier this month after two years with Vancouver Whitecaps and was thrust straight into action just a few days after landing in Russia. The 'Son of Daejeon' was brought on in the 80th minute, replacing Oleg Shatov.
Son Heung-min scores in Spurs pre-season friendly
In a pre-season friendly against League One side Ipswich Town, Son Heung-min scored two in a 3-0 Spurs win. The final day of the English Premier League season was a mere four weeks ago but already teams are preparing for the new campaign. Tottenham's first pre-season outing proved to be a productive one for Son who managed to get 45 minutes under his belt and bag a brace. Tottenham next friendly outing is against Championship outfit Reading on Friday night.
