Transfers: Daejeon Hana Citizen Sign Goalkeeper Kim Dongjun

Daejeon Hana Citizen break the bank to sign Seongnam FC goalkeeper Kim Dongjun after an offer believed to be in the region of ₩1.1 Billion (around $1m US) was accepted. Arriving at Purple Arena, Kim Dongjun ends his four year stay with the Magpies.

Daejeon Hana Citizen had strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of 25 year-old former Korean U23 international goalkeeper Kim Dongjun from K League 1 side Seongnam FC.

The Suncheon native will join up with the rest of the Daejeon squad as the club head to Spain for pre-season training.

Kim has been a regular for the Magpies since debuting in 2016 and was part of Nam Ki-il's side which conceded just 40 goals in 2019, the fourth-best defence in the division last term.

Serious injury curtailed Kim's 2018 campaign as the Magpies won automatic promotion from K League 2, suffering an ACL injury in the Magpies' 1-1 draw away to Seoul E-Land in April that year.

Kim wouldn't return to action until the opening day of the 2019 campaign as Seongnam lost on the road to Gyeongnam FC.

However, there after, Kim Dongjun would go on to make 27 further appearances, keeping 12 cleansheets in the process, the third best in the division.

Speaking about the move to Daejeon, Kim Dongjun said: "I am prepared for the new start at Daejeon Hana Citizen. The team's goal is the same as mine, I think - to get into K League 1 and I will do my best to for us to achieve that."
