Preview: Suwon FC vs Busan IPark

Preview: Suwon FC vs Busan IPark K League 2 R20
The 2019 K League 2 season is just past the midway point and the two teams ranked fifth and second will face each other this Saturday, Suwon FC and Busan IPark. Suwon FC, who have lost their last three, will have to be determined to gain points from Busan IPark at Castle Park. The  home team are only five points away from Saturday's visitors Busan.

Match: Suwon FC (5th) vs Busan IPark (2nd)
Venue: Suwon Sports Complex
Kickoff: Saturday July 13th, 2019 19:00 KST

Last Time Out

Suwon FC 0-3 Bucheon FC 1995

The ‘must-win’ game for Suwon FC ended as a miserable home defeat on Monday. Suwon FC’s pain doubled as center back Lee Yong and forward Lee Jae-an were both substituted out due to injury. It was a painful night for the home side.

The visiting team’s weapons were sharp and accurate from the start and it took just twelve minutes for them to silence the home fans and score their first goal. Midfielder Kim Han-bin spotted Nilson Junior at the near post. Kim nicely crossed onto Nilson and the Brazilian headed home the first for the road team.

Bucheon FC 1995 began to take advantage of the home team’s breakdown. Just three minutes after center back Lee Yong was replaced, the visiting team netted another header to make it two. The road team was clever to capitalize on Suwon's defensive frailties.

Suwon was hopeful of turning things around after the second half. However, it seemed as though the pep talk or tactical changes did not prove to be right as Bucheon FC 1995 scored another in the 62nd minute. Kim Han-bin’s cross from corner kick was again the firewood to ignite the road team’s fiery attack. The cross found Kim Ryun-do who was dashing into the penalty box. Kim then headed the ball to find his teammate's feet. The ball hit Kim Jae-woo’s feet and was delivered to Lim Dong-hyuk. Without hesitation, Lim netted the ball to the bottom right corner of the goal.

Busan IPark 3-1 Seoul E-Land

Busan IPark allowed no room for another defeat at home following defeat in the previous round. It was a positive outcome for the home team as they narrowed Gwangju FC's lead to just seven points. The meaningful win against Seoul E-Land was done with style as the home team managed to find the net thrice, much to the delight of the Gudeok faithful.

However, it was the road team that added themselves on the score sheet first. It was only two minutes on the clock when Seoul E-Land were awarded a spot-kick. Douglas Coutinho hit the top right corner of the goal to put his side in front.

It only took ten minutes for the home team to equalize. A free kick was awarded two blocks apart from the penalty area for Busan. The cross from kicker, Park Jong-woo found Kim Myung-joon who, despite losing his balance as the result of defenders’ tight marking, was still able to guide the ball into the corner of the net.

In the 38th minute, Lee Dong-joon earned a penalty inside the box to give Lee Jeong-hyub the chance to get his team ahead. The striker then converted the spot-kick, finding the left-hand corner. Set-pieces were the key to all of Busan’s goals. A free-kick was given to Busan at the 55th minute and Brazilian midfielder, Romulo sent in a fine cross with his left foot. The ball curled perfectly to find Lee Dong-joon unmarked in the penalty box. Lee, with a stunning header, was able to make it three for the home team.

Previous Meetings

The previous game between the two ended as a draw with two goals being shared apiece. The game was held at Busan Gudeok Stadium on first June. Both teams were in their best form of the season when they faced each other previously. Busan were on top of the table and Suwon FC were on a four-game winning streak for the first time.

The home team, Busan went ahead first with Hungarian forward, Novothny netting the goal. Ten minutes later, Chisom, the travelling team’s forward, equalized with a spot-kick.

It was Romulo who broke the balance between the two. The 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder netted his seventh of the season to get his team ahead. However, in the 76th minute, Chisom scored another penalty kick to even the score. The game ended as a draw for the two sides.

Team News

During the previous game against Bucheon FC 1995, Suwon FC lost two players due to injury: Lee Yong and Lee Jae-an. It is assumed that Chisom is out too but Estonian forward, Henri Anier will be back to in the squad, the injury status for the team is not very positive. Defender Kim Young-chan is available again having been for the defeat to Bucheon.

The Adversary

It is highly likely that Manager Cho Duk-jae will play a similar side from Busan's previous match against Seoul E-Land. However, full back Kim Chi-woo and forward Han Jin-ho are both back from suspension whilst striker Lee Jeong-hyeob will miss having picked up a third booking of the season last time out.

However, the travelling team would have to be wary of their high number of goals conceded have shipped 24 goals in eighteen games. Their offensive strategy to outscore their opponents rather than keep cleansheets has caused them to lose on three occasions and it is crucial considering their aim for automatic promotion spot that they start to become more defensively sound.

Prediction

Things have not being going well for the home team recently. They have lost their last three games and two of their players, Lee Yong and Lee Jae-an, were substituted out on account of an injury. Although, their recent meeting ended in a draw, Suwon FC are in much different shape from then. It is expected to be a tight affair but eventually, the road team will be expected to clinch three points.

Predicted Score: Suwon FC 1-2 Busan IPark
