Transfer Profile: Dário Júnior

Transfer Profile: Dário Júnior Daegu FC
Looking to build off a successful 2019, Daegu FC completed their foreign player quota with Brazilian winger Dário Júnior from Neftchi Baku in Azerbaijan Premier League. Dário is expected to replace Ze Roberto, who finished his short spell with the club due to injury. Daegu FC Correspondent Muyeol Jung spoke to Azerbaijan football journalist Mehman Ashrafov in regards to how he was viewed in Azerbaijan football.

Strong aspects of his game?

He likes to dribble a lot and is also able to play on either side with equally strong feet.

Weaknesses?

Contrary to his attacking mindset, he rarely contributes to helping the defence. I must tell also say that he was injury prone back in 2017 and so, he might have some physical problems later.

What were his reasons for leaving?

It looks like he has moved for a better league than Azerbaijan league in terms of football facilities and salary. As far as I know his monthly salary was about $10,000 at Neftchi.

Where do you think he would be best utilised with Daegu FC?

He is best suited to play on the right hand side, but he can also play as a left winger as well even though he is naturally right footed.

What was his best moment with Neftchi Baku in Azerbaijan Premier League?

Personally, I do not think he has had best moment with Neftchi as he was only with the club for six months. But I can assure you that Daegu have made a good signing.

Muyeol's Thoughts

Judging by the highlights of him with Kapaz in 2017-2018 season, he seems to be very similar to Ze Roberto in the way they play, but Dario has a better left foot than Ze Roberto. He might have difficulty in adapting himself to Korean football at first as some foreign players have experienced due to the tempo, pressure, and physicality.

However, considering the Sky Blues have a strong Brazilian community inside the squad with Brazilian gaffer, Andre Gaspar, and other his coaching staff, not to mention that Dário has already experienced Korean football with Seongnam FC in 2017, I believe he will bring more energy and dynamism on the flanks as long as he can settle into the squad well enough.
