News: Asan Mugunghwa's Participation in K League 2 For 2019 Still Uncertain

News: Asan Mugunghwa
Asan Mugunghwa's participation in K League 2 for next season is still not yet guaranteed, according to fresh reports. On Wednesday 12th December, it was reported that the police team were, after being in danger of being disbanded completely, set compete in K League 2 next year under the name of Asan Mugunghwa before transforming into a citizen club in 2020. However, a club official has suggested that such reports were premature.

Despite reports to the contrary, Asan Mugunghwa have today released a statement to assert that the club's immediate future is still very much in the balance and that the possibility of their participation in K League 2 for 2019 is still under discussion.

In reference to Wednesday's reports, a club official said: "This is still a matter of discussion. Some media reports are not true regarding the establishment of a civic group in 2020.

"We will make the utmost effort to comprehensively review whether or not we will participate in the second division in 2019 and deliver accurate facts as soon as possible."

Asan Mugunghwa emphatically sealed the K League 2 title, finishing the 2018 campaign seven points clear of Seongnam FC in second after a run of just one defeat in 10 with eight wins and a draw to see out the year.

However, Park Donghyeok's side were denied automatic promotion on account of a recruitment crisis stemming from the National Police Agency's decision to disband all sports teams. Instead, Seongnam were awarded automatic promotion and the Police Team were left fighting for their own existence.
