Preview: Ansan Greeners Vs Seongnam FC

Preview: Ansan Greeners Vs Seongnam FC K League 2 Round 12
Ansan Greeners host league leaders Seongnam FC on Monday night with the Magpies looking to cement their lead at the top of the table. The Greeners will be looking to put an end to their run of three consecutive defeats.

Match: Ansan Greeners Vs Seongnam
Venue: Wa Stadium, Ansan
Kickoff: Monday May 21st, 19:30 KST

Last Time Out

Ansan’s early season form is now a distant memory as they recorded their third consecutive defeat at Suwon on Monday evening. With Raul and Choi Hojoo out, and Conneh benched, Ansan’s reversion to the 3-4-3 system lacked the attacking bite that saw them pick up points in the opening fixtures. Suwon’s Bae Jihae scored the only goal in the first half to lift them up to 8th in the table. Ansan slipped out of the playoff places into 5th on 15 points.

Seongnam continued their unbeaten run in the K2, going 3-0 up away to Gwangju with goals from Muralhu, Choi Byungchan and Jeong Seongmin, before Gwangju pulled a late one back. The win was Seongnam’s fifth on the bounce and gives them a four-point lead at the top over second placed Bucheon.

Previous Meetings

The two sides drew 0-0 when they met at the Tancheon earlier in March. It was a drab affair, possibly on account of the dangerous levels of pollution during the match. However, Ansan are one of only four teams to hold Seongnam this season. Last season Seongnam won twice and drew the other two, with only two goals being scored across the four matches.

Prediction

It is impossible to see past another Seongnam win. Seongnam have been as impressive on the road as they have at home. The only glimmer of hope for the Greeners might be Anyang’s attempt when the Violets took the lead heading into the final ten minutes before the Magpies hit them for two. Lee Heungsil will be feeling the pressure in the Ansan dugout but it doesn’t look like Ansan’s losing streak will end here.

Score Prediction: Ansan Greeners 1–3 Seongnam FC
