FIFA 18 World Cup Tournament at Retro Game Bar
Play as your favorite nation on June 2nd at Retro Game Bar as we host our first ever FIFA 18 World Cup Tournament!
The free World Cup patch for FIFA 18 comes out on May 29th and we'll gather just a few days later on June 2nd at RGB to have a World Cup of our own! While it's tempting to keep it to the 32 nations officially in the tournament, we're breaking the rules a bit and allowing you to pick any national team you want. Want to see how Italy could have won their fifth title? Add em. Think the USA was poised for an upset? Show us what ya got!
As per usual, there will be a small ₩5,000 entry fee due in cash at RGB. The winner gets the entire allotment of entry fees as a bar tab to spend any way they'd like. Also, our 1+1 entry deal for newcomers is on as always. If you bring a friend that's never played in one of our FIFA Tournaments, they get in FREE! Last but not least, RGB will be serving double drinks for single prices for anyone in the tournament.
Before getting into the logistics of the tournament, there has been one slight tweak for this edition to our monthly tournaments. Starting with the World Cup edition, we are instituting a one drink minimum for anyone participating. That drink can be a Coke or ginger ale, or it can be a vodka champagne cocktail. We're not judging. We're just making sure RGB has the support to keep hosting these events in the future!
Game-play Settings
- National Teams only
- 4 minute halves
- Substitutions: players are only allowed to pause the game if their team has possession.
- Injuries: On
- Off Sides: On
- Camera: Tele Broadcast
Format
Specifics on the tournament layout will be determined on the day based on how many participants we have. Both group play and double elimination are possibilities. If there are enough contestants for full group draws, we will do so beforehand to cut down on organization time at the bar.Score Recording
Scores will be reported to the score table by both players after the game and put up on a big board to keep track of group points.General Rules
Though we in no way expect this to happen, K League United reserves the right to disqualify players from the tournament for misconduct or abrasive behavior. Please show respect and friendliness with the other participants and those running the tournament. Disqualified players will no longer be able to participate in the tournament and will automatically lose every match with the maximum score of 3-0.However, since that's not going to happen, here are the more basic rules:
- All games will be played on a PlayStation 4.
- All players must play using the settings laid out here.
- Frequent and purposeful pausing during game play may be subject to disqualification.
- Every participant should be available for the duration of the tournament, or until their elimination.
- If a player does not show for the game, they will lose that match by forfeit 3-0.
- If any equipment is lost or damaged by a player, said player has to pay for it.
- By entering this tournament, each participant consents to the posting and use of his or her name and/or photograph on K League United's Facebook, Twitter, and website. (We'll make sure you look nice!)
