The K League United Elimination Game - Round 4

The K League United Elimination Game

As round three draws to a close, we wave goodbye to three competitors and close the door to new entries as the K League United Elimination Game enters the more difficult stages. With some tightly contested matches on the horizon, how many casualties will start to stack up over the next few weeks?

Round Three Roundup

Jon Christian, from Jeonbuk supporters group Los Cruzados Verdes, who has kindly been running this game for our site, summarises the fallout from round three below:

AND DOWN GOES GWANGJU! Not much going on in our head-to-heads this week except for the three vs four matchup between Gwangju and Bucheon. I was quoted at saying, “I don’t really care who wins that game as long as someone loses.”

20 players chose teams I would consider “safe” picks, wtih 11 choosing Jeonbuk and nine taking Gangwon. After defeating the champions last week, the "Anchors of Classic" Incheon had 6 players thinking that they wouldn’t lose.

After round three, we have our first people eliminated; Ansan Supporters, Kyle Gobler, and K-League United’s own Paul Neat. Paul Neat played an honorable game. His beloved Daejeon Citizen knocked him out, so I’m sure there are no hard feelings there. Kyle Gobler made made exceptionally safe picks. He entered in round two, then chose Jeonbuk against Incheon then Ulsan against a struggling Jeju. Any other weeks those would’ve been quality picks. Ansan Supporters chose Ansan in round one and lost. Afterwards, they were unable to support another club, so they abstained for rounds two and three. It is truly an act of loyalty that we can all look to for guidance.

Only 8 players of the 43 have all three lives. This game is taking an International Break. Your picks for round four will be due by 14:00 on 30th March.

May the odds be in your favor.

Rules

The rules to the game continue to be very simple. Choose a team per round that will not lose, without selecting a side you have picked in an earlier stage of the competition. Every time the team you select loses, a life is taken away from you. When you reach zero lives, it is sadly game over for you. The last person standing is the victor!

You must submit your team 24 hours prior to the first kick off of the round. In the case of this round, the deadline is Friday March 30th at 2:00pm KST.

Every player who entered the competition from the first round was given three lives to begin with, and some still have all of them remaining. Unfortunately, if you have not entered this tournament in the prior three rounds, you now sadly cannot join. The deadline for new entrants passed in round three.

For those still in the competition, in round four we are switching to form entry only so players cannot see what others have selected. Shortly after the deadline passes, a confirmed table will be published on our Twitter account so people can see what other competitors have selected going into the weekend.

You will be asked to submit your name, email, and also the Twitter or Facebook handle that you used in previous rounds, so it is possible to keep track of your submission.

If you do not submit your team in the form at the bottom of this article before the deadline, you will lose a life.

If you wish to change your side after submitting, please contact Jon Christian or site editor Matthew Binns, or leave your request in the comments section below this page, the original tweet or Facebook post and we will make sure to get to it. Make sure to announce your change prior to the deadline.

Prizes

Besides the joy of triumph, we are also giving away a K League United kit (both shirt and matching shorts), in addition to a standard match ticket (home or away) for any competition featuring a K League side playing in Korea in the current or following season. Tickets will not be offered for matches outside of the country.

For those wishing to partake from outside of the Korea peninsula, the K League United kit will be sent out to you free of charge via a standard international shipping service.

Fixtures

We will only be playing the game for weekend fixtures when both K League 1 and K League 2 teams are in action together. There are no plans for midweek rounds at present. If this changes, competitors will be notified by their submitted email address (which will be required to compete from round four onwards).

Upcoming fixtures for the first round are as follows:

Saturday 31st March
Pohang Steelers vs Ulsan Hyundai
Jeju United vs Suwon Bluewings
Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors vs Sangju Sangmu
Daegu FC vs Jeonnam Dragons
Busan IPark vs Ansan Greeners
Seoul E-Land vs Bucheon 1995
FC Anyang vs Suwon FC

Sunday 1st April
