FIFA 18 Tournament at Retro Game Bar February 24th

Our monthly FIFA 18 Tournament at Retro Game Bar is back on Saturday, February 24th. To celebrate the 2018 K League season, this one is exclusively K League teams that will be allocated via a blind draw at the bar!

Details

  • ₩5,000 entry fee due in cash at RGB.
  • 1+1 deal for newcomers.
    • If you bring a friend that's never played in one of our FIFA Tournaments, they get in FREE!
  • Double drinks for single prices for all entrants to the competition.

Picking Teams

With 12 K League 1 teams to choose from, we're going to be switching things up from previous tournaments. This time we'll be doing a blind draw for all 12 entrants on the day of the tournament to determine which team you'll be playing as! Anyone can play well with Real Madrid on a sunny Saturday in Spain, but can you win with Incheon United on a cold and rainy night in Daegu? We're about to find out!

The great news about limiting everything to 12 teams is more game time in the group stages. With just twelve teams, we will up the halves to five minutes each. Each group will also have their own dedicated system and TV to play on for the entire group stage!

Format and Match Schedules

  • 12 K League 1 teams will be broken up into three groups of four via a random draw.
  • The winner of each group will automatically move on to the knockout stages.
  • The second place team in each group will be entered in a single elimination playoff.
    • Playoff 1: Team with the lowest point total vs Team with second lowest point total.
    • Playoff 2: Playoff 1 winner vs 2nd place team with highest point total.
  • The knockout stages will be played over two legs.
    • The advantage of winning your group is avoiding the single elimination match.
  • The winners of the knockout stages will face off in a single match Final to determine the winner.

Game-play Settings

  • 5 minute halves for Group Stage
  • 5 minute halves for Knockout Rounds
  • 6 minute halves for Final
  • Substitutions: players are only allowed to pause the game if their team has possession.
  • Injuries: On
  • Off Sides: On
  • Camera: Tele Broadcast
  • Lineups: Limit of one minute maximum in the menus to set lineups and formations before the match.

Standings and Tie-Breakers

Three points will be awarded for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss in the group stage. If two (or more) teams are tied on points after the Group Stage, the following tiebreakers will be used to determine who advances, and who wins the group:
  1. Result of head to head match.
  2. Goals scored. We're mimicking K League here and going with goals scored instead of goal difference to encourage some free scoring affairs.
  3. If two teams are still tied, there will be a penalty shootout to determine the winner.

Score Recording

Scores will be reported to the score table by both players after the game and put up on a big board to keep track of group points.

General Rules

Though we in no way expect this to happen, K League United reserves the right to disqualify players from the tournament for misconduct or abrasive behavior. Please show respect and friendliness with the other participants and those running the tournament. Disqualified players will no longer be able to participate in the tournament and will automatically lose every match with the maximum score of 3-0.

However, since that's not going to happen, here are the more basic rules:
  • All games will be played on a PlayStation 4.
  • All players must play using the settings laid out here.
  • Frequent and purposeful pausing during game play may be subject to disqualification.
  • Every participant should be available for the duration of the tournament, or until their elimination.
    • If a player does not show for the game, they will lose that match by forfeit 3-0.
  • Please limit pre-match lineup changes to a maximum of one minute.
  • If any equipment is lost or damaged by a player, said player has to pay for it.
  • By entering this tournament, each participant consents to the posting and use of his or her name and/or photograph on K League United's Facebook, Twitter, and website. (We'll make sure you look nice!)

Prizes

  • 1st place: ₩50,000 bar tab
  • 2nd place: K League United kit
  • 3rd place: K League United shorts
  • Golden Boot: Free drink
