Preview: Daejeon Citizen Vs Goyang Zaicro
Daejeon Citizen Vs Goyang Zaicro
Saturday 4th June 2016 19:00 Hyundai Oilbank K League Challenge Round 15, Daejeon World Cup Stadium
Daejeon suffered their 6th reverse of the season when Choi Moon-Sik's side narrowly lost to high-flying Gangwon on Wednesday evening.
The result, and indeed those elsewhere, meant that the Purples lost ground in their pursuit of the playoff positions.
Thanks to Anyang's 1-0 home win over Busan, Daejeon dropped to 8th and are now five points adrift of 4th placed Bucheon.
However, Saturday sees the visit of Goyang Zaicro, a side who are enduring a torrid season to date having only won once all year, and make the trip to Daejeon on the back of a five game win-less run.
If truth, Daejeon could not have asked for a more suitable opponent for them to right the wrongs of Wednesday night and indeed get their season back on track.
If Daejeon are to mount a playoff push then putting sides like Goyang Zaicro to the sword is an absolute minimum.
Form:
Daejeon Citizen: D*WDWDL
Goyang Zaicro: WLDLLD
* Penalty shootout victory
Previous Meetings
Daejeon have, of course, already beaten their north Gyeonggi-do counterparts this season having notched a narrow win in Goyang at the beginning of May.
Daejeon's latest hero Kim Dong-Chan scored the only goal of the game to send the travelling Daejeon faithful home with a smile on their faces that afternoon.
Goyang's last trip to Daejeon World Cup Stadium saw the Purples ease past Goyang in another narrow victory.
Jeong Seok-Min scored the only goal of the game back in August 2014 to seal the three points for the Purples.
Daejeon have never lost to Goyang in the league with the only reverse coming in the FA Cup three years ago.
Team News
Park Ju-Won remains a doubt with the young goalkeeper still recovering from a rib injury.
Jean-Claude Bozga and his defensive partner Alvaro Silva, were both suspended on Wednesday night and should be in contention for Saturday.
K League rules dictates that three yellow cards will result in a one math ban.
