Daegu v Gyeongnam Preview.

This used to be a K League Classic fixture for many a season a few years back, but how times have changed for both these clubs.  Both in the K League Challenge now and they will pit their wits against each other this Saturday at 2pm.

Table toppers Daegu will be odds on favourites to win this game however with the team scoring 10 goals in their first 6 games already compared to Gyeongnams measly 3 goals.  They also boast a deadly striking pairing of Brazilian Johnathan and Korean Byung Jun No.  Both have 3 goals a piece this season.

A more improved performance was clearly evident by the reds in their goal less draw up at Anyang last Sunday.  But they will face a more potent team in Daegu this Saturday.  The away team will take some comfort that Daegu haven't the best of defenses having conceded 7 goals already this campaign.

Daegu have been the team to beat this season with a record of played 6 won 3 drew 2 lost 1 and are unbeaten in their last 5 league games.  They did get dumped out of the FA cup at the 4th round stage by K League powerhouses Pohang 3-1 midweek.  Gyeongnam had a weeks rest having been knocked out of the FA cup in the earlier round by Gangwon 2-1.  Daegu played all their big guns too in the FA cup tie and pushed Pohang close, but a late clincher sealed the deal for the east coast side.

It may be a backs to the wall job this for Gyeongnam and try to catch the blues on the the break with Milos Stojanovic hopefully leading the line and players working off him to get to the big mans knock downs.  Daegu have a lot of inventiveness in all over the pitch and if the reds are to get anything from the game the will have to be more clinical in the final third to hurt Daegu and match their work rate. Daegu seem to be a very well organised unit and are in the hunt to get back to the promised land of the K League Classic for next season.

I always loved going up to Daegu.  Not far at all for the Gyeong sang nam do side to travel (about an hour).  Gyeongnam should bring quite a few fans for this one.  A lively encounter in store.

Prediction.  Daegu 1-1 Gyeongnam
